My truck has a 4 speed on the floor, it was born with a 3 on the tree.
The change was made way before I got it.
my question, I bought the Correct shift collar. Is it as simple as pulling the wheel, removing the signal switch and installing it?
Or are there any unforeseen issues I need special tools and patience! for?
A blank collar can be installed NBD. As a caveat to that, be prepared to completely pull the column and remove the shift tube and arms. I'm not sure that those parts will prevent installation of a non shift collar, but it would be better if, they were removed. The parts can be retained as original parts or sold to people in need of a usable tube and arms. The floor shift collar is retained by two small screws thru the bearing plate, they may need to be drilled.

if removing the column is necessary I should consider replacing the upper and lower bearings. Plus?
Having seen "some" of what is being offered for replacements. I would save and lube the originals if possible... Inspect the turn signal canceling cams and replace if suspect for failure due to cracks and age embrittling the plastic.
