Clutch Slipping
Only in forth and fifth gears, after he has shifted into gear and is cruising, whenever he hits the gas the engine revs then the revs drop back down to normal, The car accelerates even while the engine rev are shooting up and dropping back to normal, but this should not be happening? The engine only revs maybe 50-750 RPMs above where it should be
i.e. We are going 60 on the highway in 4th gear, shift to 5th, nothing wrong, engine is at 2500 RPMs...gets a little straightaway, hits the gas, instead of engine steadily climbing up to say 4500 RPMs, it shoots up to 3250 RPMs (quicker than normal) the car is accelerating almost normally it seems, and the the engine drops down to say 2750 RPMs and continues to accelerate until he lets of the gas....
This only happens in 4th and 5th gears, only last a second or two. I thought maybe it is a slipping clutch, possible something wrong with the computer? Could this be do to somehow having air in the system or just being low of clutch fluid? Does the throwout bearing need to be replaced or what? Just hoping someone in here might have an idea
BTW this is an import front wheel drive V6 with only 20,000 miles on it. This just started about a week ago, I cannot smell the clutch burning.
Thankyou for your help.
