Window Glass Replacement
There was some back and forth about cost and insurance, etc.
Well, I put off replacing mine at the time, but a couple of days ago I came out to my truck to go somewhere and the crack had spread almost clear across the glass, so I decided I needed to get it fixed right away.
So, I went back and started searching the various glass companies for who had a good price.
I had done an estimate through safelite, and with a promo code they quoted $355, well I went back and my original estimate was gone since I never completed it.
So, I re-did the quote, and, of course, they cost had gone up a bunch, and with the discount code it was now $420, SCREW SAFELITE!
Called a couple of places near the house and the best price was $310, and it was not exactly the same as the oem glass, no solar tint, wasn't sure about whether it was acoustic.
Anyway, there is a chain body shop called Caliber Collision, and they have their own glass division, Caliber Glass.
I figured they would be high, but tried them anyway, and it turns out they were cheapest at $265 installed, PLUS, the glass was from the same manufacturer as oem, VITRO, and it is the same acoustic and solar tinted as the original, just doesn't say "Ford" on it.
It only took the guy 20 minutes to do the R&R, and he didn't even have to remove the door panel, just the outer trim at the base of the door glass to do it.
Very satisfied with the quick service and price.

But, yeah, the glass just clips into the regulator track, two plastic mounts glued to the bottom edge of the glass.
He said the previous generation Ford cab, he would have had to take the door panel off to get to the attachments to the regulator.
The 20 minutes time it took him to do the install, half was prep and playing with his iPad for the documentation.
