I have a 2005 F150 Larait with the 5.4 3v engine, currently at 220k miles, yesterday it started pouring oil out of the front end of the transmission, I was about 20 miles from home, got to a gas station and added 5 quarts of fluid, got another 10 miles till I lost that.... Had it towed home, I'm hoping it's just the front main seal, how hard is it to drop the transmission? It's a 4WD.
I have decided to not put anymore money into this truck, it has served me well the past 14 years but it's time to sell it. Anyone has an idea what it would be worth? The body is in excellent shape for it's age. I'm located in South Central PA.

I would have replied with this before you made up your mind, but dropping the trans is not really the hard part.
The hard part is getting the rest of the truck up high enough to clear the bell housing while you slide it out.
The trans is heavy & I wouldn't do it myself unless I had a trans jack.
I would say, go on kbb.com to look up what the "book" value of the truck is.
Maybe CarMax would give you an offer.... Worth a shot.
Good luck.
