Sudden massive leak while pulling load

Was pulling around 14k with my 01 f350 dually up a fairly steep asphalt grade exhaust temp was about 800 , engine temp was normal , then smoke started to boil out from under truck , could not stop till I got to the top ,SES came on overdrive started flashing then up the last steepest part it died , I looked under it and whole bottom of truck covered with oil , I tried to start and it did ,no SES sounded ok so I put it in 4wd low and eased it over the top , unhooked trailer and babied it home long story short ... It took a gallon of oil before it showed on tip of dipstick I pulled it in my shop where let her Idle for 15 min , did not leak . Where can it be leaking that much oil and not show up ? I am going to finish filling up the oil and see if it it shows Ideas ? Topped off the oil started truck in shop let it warm up only leak I found was ICP was leaking cleaned it up retightened and no leak , drove about 20 miles ran fine ? So now what do I look for ? Could ICP leak that much all at once ?

I would get it cleaned up really well and see if you see anything obvious.

yes an ICP can pump serious oil if it was just pumping out the top under load. But I would also take a look at HPOP lines, HPOP if it was only on the top.

I recently had an oil gallery plug leaking. It wouldn't leak much if anything under normal driving. pulling a load or working hard, it would pump out a gal of oil in short time.
So a failed ICP wold be similar to opening up a plug on the head. Hopefully that's al it was

Quite a few years ago in my 02 F350/7.3, when I first got it, it had an Edge programmer, stupid me was running around on Hot-rod mode, floored it on the 99 to pass some idiots, pulled into the parking lot at Lowes a few minutes later, went in and got what I needed, came out to a big pool of oil underneath... had it towed up the hill to home thinking the worst, next day checking it out, way back on the pass side head I had blown an o-ring on one of the plugs on the oil passageway right by the turbo down pipe, 16mm wrench and new o-ring, problem solved. Wouldn't really leak until you hit the throttle and the pressure went up...

Most likely cause is a blown oring in the HPOP system, which doesn't leak until exceeding a certain pressure (for now).

Put some tracer leak dye that is safe for diesel engine oil in the crankcase, and get a halloween decoration black light. Start the engine at night, with all the surrounding lights off, but with the black light on, and with the proper amount of tracer dye in the crankcase, and you will immediately find exactly WHICH o-ring is leaking. A bright green fluorescent ribbon of dyed oil will ooze from the leak location. Replace that Oring.
