Starter problem
I've got a '94 f-150 4x4 w/the 302 engine.
Recently I replaced my starter because it sounded like the pinion gear wasn't engaging properly-it was kinda gnashing against the flywheel. Everything was fine until yesterday (about 6 weeks since I replaced the starter). It started doing the same thing! It does this a couple times and then won't do anything. Dead. Is there something I need to know about installing the starter that I may not be doing correctly? Shouldn't it just bolt up? Any help would be appreciated.

Check for teeth wear on the flywheel. The flywheel/flexplate could also be warped or crackedcausing an uneven starter cranking and premature starter failure as well.
