i have a 1984 ford f-250 with a 460, 4 speed and a standard cab, i was wondering what rear end i have in my truck, could it perhaps be a dana44? any help would be appreciated,
it's probably a dana 60. If you've ever pulled a Dana 44 down you'd be counting your lucky stars not to have it as a rear diff. I see it as a good axle for intermittent use or very light duty use. I just rebuilt a couple 9"s and then pulled a 44 down to inspect it. After messing with the 9"s I was almost afraid to handle the parts of the 44, they looked so fragile and insignificant in comparison. After doing this it just amazed me that ford and gm both offered the 44 as a rear diff in full-size trucks and that people actually ordered it.
well, i just did a complete diff replacement on a 77 f-250 and my axles come out the same exact way that the 77 does.... i was told its a dana60 but is there anyplace i can go to really see for sure?
