Unhappy K & N Filter not covered

Its going around that Ford will not cover turbo failure when a K&N oil filter is used.. They say the oil gets in the turbo and gums it up.

Has anyone heard of this happening..

Do You mean an oiled intake filter? If so that is B.S. The oil mist from the breather tube is about 1000 times more than you will ever get from an oiled K&N filter, unless you soak it and install it dripping.

I would say it's due to the dirt that the K&N passes into the engine that the OEM filter doesn't.

One of our shop mechanics stated that Ford would not warrant any diesel with a K&N. They (instructor) cited too much dust passing the element. He learned this at a diesel mechanics class that was required by the city. Who knows?

I think the problem with K&N is not the filter element but the fact that it fits into the piece of Junk Ford air filter box. Those things are notorious for leaking and not fitting right.
I was tracking mine with a K&N filter in it and eventually I started noticing some flow by. It was along the edges of the air box, guess the vibration finally loosened it.

That is when I got the AIS severe duty filter.
