Heater control Q? '89 Bronco

I'm curious to know if anybody here has swapped out their heater controls to the late-model (****) type? I'm considering doing so to my '89, and am wondering if there are any probs. I'll encounter. The ones I've come across (at the junkyard) look like they'll fit right in. Can I use the early model plugs from my existing wire harness, or will I have to splice the plugs from the new controls as well? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks fellas.

You're asking for some intense wiring fun, and a LOT of plastic fabrication. The '92-96 cables are totally different from the earlier ones, so I'm going to say it's "not possible" unless you own a plastic welder with a good stock of the right kind of rods (~$400 worth of equipment) OR if you want to try to find an interior ventilation box from a '92-96 truck and pull your dash out to do the swap. Even then, your old dash probably won't fit over the newer box and you'll be welding plastic again to make it work.

I think your only option if you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO change your control panel is to go to the '87-early'88 panel with an A/C button in the middle. That's what I use in my '83 dash because it only uses one vacuum motor and the rest is cable-operated.
