I’m looking at buying an eat up old dentside for the frame, I think the vin says it’s a F 150 but it has 8 lug rims on it . Any help would be appreciated
The 2 OEM rivets have been drilled out on the Warranty tag and then 2 pop rivets were used. There is some jankie stuff going on there. Be aware.
F15 '75-'79 2 wheel drive pickup (F150) engine code Y '73-'76 8 360 2-bbl.
assembly plant C Ontario Truck
numerical sequence of assembly X81283 '=s X80,001 Z25,000 is 1977
133 is 133" wheelbase
Axle code 14J 14 '75-'79 3.00 3.75M Ford '75-'76 3.00 3.6M Ford E100/350 '77 3.00 3.6M Ford

A F100/F150 should have a 5 lug 9" rear axle. Yes that is a 8 lug rear axle in your pic and probably a Dana 60 rear axle. The rear axle could of gotten swapped. Body's (cab's) get changed and or the complete top (cab and bed) get changed. Doors get changed. I would compare the vin on the paper title to the 2 on the frame. If the paper title does NOT match the TWO on the frame, then you have some questions to ask and a decision to make.
2wd vin in line with the alternator, on top of the frame rail.
The tag has been moved--note the badly placed rivets. Certainly not an F150 axle.
FWIW:
F15 = F150 pickup
Y = 360 2V FE gas V8
C = Ontario Truck Plant
X61283 = This is beyond the serial number range for both the MPC and shop manual, but not by much. And the tag says 1975. So very late production for whatever the tag came from.
133 = 133 inch wheelbase
S = Midnight Blue Metallic. No match there.
F150 = F150 pickup, 4x2, 6050 lbs GVWR
2 4
2 = Possibly Blue interior
4 = Custom Cab with styleside pickup box.
G = Ford 3 speed automatic--C6
14 = Ford 9 inch rear axle, 3,750 lbs capacity, 3.0 ratio
No front axle code or I can't read it.
6050 = 6,050 lbs GVWR
1975 = model year
A1 = Ford of Canada, Central (Lincoln-Mercury) District Sales Office.
I'm betting on a 0% match....
EDIT: we know who's quicker at a decode now as well......
85e150 for a game, set and match. You speedy decoder you. I was just sluffing along at it. But I at least posted of pics of 1 vin location. So nana nana bobo.
Yes, see pic. Passenger side, top of frame rail, under front seat bolt area. Hard to see clearly. So it is a 4wd truck? You have a Frankenstein truck for sure. And on a 4wd the vin is here on a 4wd frame. Red box is 4wd vin location.
In the fresh primer area, where the 5 holes are in the top of the frame rail.
Obviously you are not going to cut a hole but it the floor pans are rusty. The vin is the white line that the arrow is point at.
Under the cab trick.
1/2 and 3/4 ton 4wd vin location.
4wd
4wd fwd one.
4wd rear one.
Worse case set each rear brake drums inside and old tire and ratchet strap (pull the tire) to them to make them "tight" and drag it where it needs to be. NO sideways pulling.
Skid steer, tractor with forks, fork lift, excavator, wheel loader. NOT OSHA approved.
