Hidden Sensor

2003 Ford F150, Lariat with 5.4 L Engine. Where in the world is the Ambient Temperature Sensor located ? I keep reading MAY be behind the grille ? I looked there, I don't see squat ! Any help appreciated. P.S. Someone at my favorite auto parts store said maybe near the Airbox ? Thanks all.

Maybe this will help. Not 100% sure it applies to your model.

An '03 will have an AAT sensor ONLY if it is equipped with the EATC climate control system. If you have a manual climate control, that sensor is not going to be present. I would assume that a Lariat trim did come with the EATC.

BTW, do not confuse the AAT with the IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor.

Here's where the EVTM says the AAT is located: You may have to remove the radiator sight shield to see it mounted up high just to the passenger side of the center of the radiator opening.

My 2001 Lariat Screw does not have the ETAC, just manual. But it does have that overhead console with exterior temperature display and direction.

Maybe it will help too.

The EATC wasn't offered for the 2001 F150 so yours is going to be different from the OP's 2003.

According to the manual, yours for the overhead console would be located in a similar position, just to the driver's side instead.
