Brakes question

I have a 1977 ford f250 2wd and I did a brake conversion kit on the rear axle to disc and I’m needing to find a master cylinder that will work with my disc disc system I was wondering what are some master cylinders y’all would recommend? And will I have to change the booster?

Are your front calipers single or dual ?

The combination valve usually requires a change to be made to it when converting from disc/drum to disc/disc.

That said, they're pretty crap and can be thrown in the bin !

I would contact Lonestar and ask for a recommendation on hookup and parking brake.

With 5158a here.
First contact would have been to the kit mfg.
Surely they have designed the system with this issue answered.
Supprised that KIT did not address this from the start in the directions.

The single caliper MCs have a 1'' bore, whereas the dual calipers have a 1.0625'' bore.

Your OE one probably looks like this (note the port tube nut sizes) :

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...1836&jsn=11434

This is the one I'd consider for your setup, taken from a 1995 Bronco (note the port tube nut sizes are swapped over and larger bore) :

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...1836&jsn=11078

It is not a disc/disc MC, but would work just fine.

The mounting holes might require slight modification with a drill bit.

3 benefits over the horrible cast iron OE one :

1. Fluid level checks at a glance

2. Air not allowed into the fluid upon checking

3. Reed switch can be easily wired to a 'fluid level' warning light which is a far superior warning system than the crap ''pressure differential'' OE setup.

The above pictured dual diaphragm booster should be more effective than your OE single diaphragm one (without the crap MC. LOL)

I assume you had to fit different e brake cables. (Flat faces as opposed to diagonal faces)

That said, I would follow the above two suggestions first.

I don't like those either, but that's just me.

It's a knock off of Wilwood.

Note the proportioning valve (PV), which is not a 'combination valve' that you have now.

The PV is why they say it is a disc/disc MC.

The bore might be too big for your application, depending on what the bore size actually is !!

Read the 4 comments on that web page for info.

On the website summit racing it has the bores are 1.125 inch on the MC and I was thinking about using it for the look and i was going to remove that valve and just use the one I have already so im not making new brake lines

my calipers are factory in the front single idk the bore size but the rears from lugnut 4x4 there 2 5/16 bore single caliper

Their answer doesn't surprise me.

The question is, why are you looking to change the MC ?

Is it because the rear brakes are crap after the conversion ?

Why did you do the conversion in the first place ? (Just curious.)

So how it all started was I wanted to run full disc because I wanted to I had two other trucks with drums and I wanted it to be easy to maintain and everything but I sold all my drum parts so its little to late to go back

on the master cylinder I thought it had to be a disc disc master cylinder I honestly didn’t know I could run my factory setup with a single diagram vacuum booster and a disc and drum master cylinder
