Factory E-locker availability

Hello

Now that these trucks are becoming more available in wrecking yards I am wondering about pulling an E-locker as I know this was a somewhat common option on these trucks. I am wondering if the factory E-locker could be had in the 8.8 diff or if it was just an option for the 9.75?

Thanks

I haven't heard of an 8.8 with elocker but it could exist. I'd look into simply swapping the whole axle to a 9.75. It's a much beefier axle and readily available. It'd be a bolt in affair too. Easier than pulling out a carrier and swapping in the locker.

If you have an 8.8 there are so many better options available than the factory e locker. Detroit locker, Yukon grizzly locker, and Detroit Truetrac just to name a few, or if yours is an open differential you can use a drop in locker like a Spartan.

not sure they are any better, but they are available.... the factory e-locker is a stout piece.

Any of the aftermarket full carrier mechaincal lockers are stronger.

doubtful. Not knocking the aftermarket pieces, but the factory locker is a strong piece. I've blown a Detroit in Moab, and the Spartan stripped my splines. So far so good on my ARB. Never any issues with the e locker in the 6+ trucks I've had with them.

Anything can break but a locker that uses dog clutches is stronger than any locker that uses spider gears. More surface area of engagement.
