Ok, nothing personal just rambling the first thing that popped in my head when I scrolled down thru here. Carry on.

I can see your point, heck my first 1985 F250 had a granny gear. Loved that truck, but times change.

Not necessary but it’s nice to have on the boat ramp.

Most of us have two feet. I was born with hill start assist installed. Not everyone is wired for it though…

Sorry, but auto hold is a dumb gimmick. Who pays when it pops off while you’re scrolling through tic tok at a red light and you roll into the intersection and get T-boned?

Or when the vehicle in front makes a legal right turn on a red light and your truck blindly follows it into the intersection…

I also mainly use it on the boat ramp, where i normally find myself putting the brake pedal through the floor until the E brake is on. Back a 32' Sea Ray Sundancer down the ramp and see how hard you push on the brakes. I do have a military disability that affects my right hip from a bad PLF. Auto Hold did help me. That dumb gimmick prevented the truck from rolling back or moving while putting the E brake on while on the ramp. And regardless of your opinion, cellphone use while driving in Ohio is a primary offense.

It would be nice if this feature could stay on when you exit the vehicle at the boat ramp. The E-brake only works on the rear axle.

Turn the 4wd drive on that will lock drive train together. It only has brake pads on rear so still not a lot of braking force but will spread the risk out of a rear tire is on a slippery spot.

I usually just throw a chock behind a tire to be sure. It only takes a second.

Somebody should tell them it works better if you back in.

The feature is like any other tool - good when used within the context of it's intended application and when managed properly by the operator. I too was born with hill start assist, power steering, power braking, adaptive cruise control and 360° vision installed - but I would not trade those features out of my truck.

The person behind the wheel is the dumb part of the vehicle / driver equation and if that scenario happens they deserve the expense of whatever happens to them. I personally think that all cell phones should be programmed to shut down when they detect they are moving faster than 10 MPH. Since the majority of people are too stupid to use common sense it should be forced upon them to save the few that do use common sense. And no, I don't care about the poor passenger who can't use their phone - the majority of vehicles on the road have just a driver anyway. If people can go without their phone for a four hour flight they can do the same for their commute to work or whatever.

My daughter has a Honda CR-V with the Auto Hold feature. It has a button on the center console below the electric parking brake button that turns it on or off. She uses it in drive thru lines, then turns it off. Seems handy for that, but not for regular driving. If the new trucks do have it, but you have to scroll through multiple menu levels to get to it, then it seems like something that was only added so YouTube reviewers could check the box and not flame the truck for not having it. That’s just my opinion, but I am an expert on my opinion…

I learned to drive in a '60 Chevy with 3 on the tree as it's highest tech feature. I've spent most of my driving life with basic transportation. I really didn't think I would like the techy stuff but have to admit I do. The wife's Subaru has the auto hold and I find it very handy. In fact, I find myself wishing my truck had it. One thing I haven't warmed up to is the lane centering on her Subaru. At the times I have used it it sometimes has a mind of it's own.

I don't mind the lane keeping on a long straight highway but I had to shut it off on twisty mountain roads because it was definitely trying to kill me!
I'll likely disable the automatic braking (Park assist?) because it's highly annoying when I follow the opening gate or something and it slams on the brakes. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't result in a dead pedal.
