CNA Warranty

So I went by the dealership this past week to do some preliminary discussions before my F450 is built. I just wanted to discuss things like financing options they have, how to make my down payment if I actually use their financing, extended warranty information, aftermarket interior/exterior protection stuff they try to push, tire warranties, etc.

I figured it would be far better for me to look into this stuff on my time time versus getting hit with it all at once the day I pick up the truck.

This dealer sells two different extended warranties. Obviously the Ford ESP and then they have the CNA National Warranty Corporation. The finance guy was certainly pushing the CNA warranty. He said all the stuff like "easier to get stuff fixed quicker" and "can be used at certified diesel shops" instead of just a Ford dealership. There were some other perks as well.

Does anyone have any experience with CNA? I'm not going to completely count them out just because I don't know much about them. But I'm not going to just take my dealer's word for it. My guess is he makes more commission on the CNA but I have no proof of that.

Anyone have any experience with CNA?

I'm sure he pushes that aftermarket warranty because he makes a lot more money off of it.
Never heard of CNA before, but there are a LOT of vehicle warranty companies out there.
The extended service contract I got from Ford is TONS EASIER to get work done at the dealer with, aftermarket company makes me jump through lots of hoops to get the work approved.

Only buy the Ford Warranty. He gets a bigger kickback on the CNA.

I have bought 60 plus new Ford trucks. Bought one warranty. Never used it.

Maybe you mean service warranty.

CNA is an insurance conglomerate. They are in it for the money, like most third-party service contract vendors, and will deny claims more often than factory plans. Ford (and the other manufacturers) have a vested interest in keeping you happy so you'll buy another vehicle from them again.

FWIW, I normally avoid extended warranties. I fix my own vehicles and none of them have been to dealer in 30 years....except my Ford. For the piece of mind of not having to work on it for 7 years I bought the 7yr/125K warranty for just under $3K. It's been to the shop for warped rotors (re-cut once and all 4 replaced the second time in), broken moon roof track, faulty front camera sprayer, replaced steering stabilizer and track bar, and the next time some major comes up, I'll have them fix the scratchy stereo speakers in the back.

All fairly minor items, but at this point, 4.5 years and 62K mikes in, the warranty has paid for itself, especially the moon roof repair thanks to a crappy design by Ford.

Definitely go with the factory ESP. Aside from the $100 deductible, it was easy to get scheduled and get repaired.

I would definitely recommend going with the Ford ESP Warranty. But, like the vehicle itself, shop around for the best price. There are Ford dealers that sell the ESP online for much less than the selling dealers typically will. Although my last experience was different. We were replacing my wife's old Edge with a new one, when we got to the upsell portion of the sale, they mentioned the Ford ESP. I told the finance guy straight up I'd be interested in it, but that I'd go online as they were much cheaper. He surprised me - said "Oh, Flood Ford?" I said "Yes, that's one" He said he'd match the Flood Ford price +$50, and if I bought it from him I finance it (at 0% interest, why not?). So maybe they dealers are catching on?
