I have a 95 f150 xlt 5.8 with some pretty bad rust i was wondering any tips on how to fix it also some rust proofing for the bottom would be good as well, thanks!
Are you fixing the body or are you paying someone to do it? That is thousands of dollars in repair not including the time and materials to paint it. There are wheel arch patch panels, rocker panels and lower bed sections available. I’m thinking you need to pull up the carpet to see how bad it really is under there. Then decide if you want to take on the project.
Do you have a place to park your truck where you can grind and weld? I did my rust repair outside, but the truck wasn't my daily driver. It took a few months of weekends.
I used patch panels from LMC and on the frame, I used POR 15.
I also used 3M Panelbond on the floor pans and one rear lower quarter panel as an alternative to welding. LMC patch panel. 3M Panelbond process. After Bondo and primer. POR 15 the day I painted it. It doesn't stay this shiny without a top coat. I used Krylon spray can paint as I went. What it looks like now.
I hate to break it to you, but if you're asking "how to fix rust", and you've got body panels that are completely rusted through... it's probably a job that is more than you're going to want to tackle.
If you want to try however, it's going to involve (as others have said), sourcing patch panels, and a lot of cutting, aligning, and welding.
