I have a 96 Explorer Sport and have a factory AM/FM Cassette Radio and would like to upgrade to a Factory AM/FM CD Radio
Can you tell me What other years will fit my SUV..Having a hard time finding a 96 radio?
Thanks for your reply.
Ive been getting recomendations to go to a aftermarket HU..whats your all opinions.
I see you bought some of them super whites..are these headlight bulb replacements..and if so.. did you see a noticable differance.
Because Ive been thinking of trying to brighten my path.
I agree with 96 - make sure you try and get one with the same plugs. The radios are all the same physical size, but the plugs are what is different. Try and find a radio with the same plug style. YOu can make the other plugs work, but it is a PITA to wire, etc.
I personally would go with an aftermarket radio if you plan on doing more upgrades in the future. It gives you the ability to use RCA's for amps, etc, where a factory radio won't. Plus, you can get a single din radio w/ CD and mounting bracket for what you might pay for a used factory radio...
After market radios are much better than the radio that ford puts in you can pick one up for about 150 bucks and most places install it for free for you, you can go wrong.....Unless you want the tape player as well i have not really seen many after market radios with both, but you can get the tape and add a cd changer in, i personally dont like tapes just use the cds in my after market dont even have a tape....Its a lot better than what came stock which was really bad, also did the speakers too and now it sounds great....ford is known to not put great radios in their vehicals...unless you get one with the alpine option usually in lincolns
well the jbl system that is stock in my explorer screams louder then my friends complete after market setup.but i have my HU an amp setup to were no bass go through the car speakers all through subs. i have had no prolem with them ever since i got the truck/suv whatever and i blare my **** every single day an night
Thanks all that have repleyed ...I believe it to my best intrest to go with a aftermarket system..so I purchased a JVC HU that playes CDRW and has a MP3 Input..now just have to buy a install kit and factory harness and I should be all set.
