i have a 2019 f-450 and i installed the s&s dpk, and plan to install a dcr if the cp4 fails. Also im on the look out for a cherry low miles cp4 from someone who just decided to replace their cp4 with a dcr just for piece of mind.
Since I have the s&s dpk, i have no problem replacing my co4 with anoth if i know that it is good.
Yes, I did my own install of the S&S DCR Pump on my 2017 F450 P/U. Not hard to do. I watched these two videos before doing mine. A few times each along with the instructions in hand. So as to not miss anything. If you start on a Friday afternoon. You should be able to get it completed by Sunday Morning. It took me a few days I was in no hurry. Time was not an enemy of mine. It's a very nice and well built kit.
I replaced all the gaskets that had been on the engine for 6 years. I bought the gasket kit from Rock Auto. Gaskets are cheap and easy to replace. No brainer.
You will need one of these. ( Lisle 39400 Angled Disconnect Tool Set ). I bought mine from Advanced Auto.
You will need a Mirror to see the Pump Nut to align the Hash Marks.
I still have my OEM CP4 Pump sitting in one of the DCR Pump bags. I have not figured what to do with it. My OEM CP4 has only 24K on it. I would say it's your money spend it on what you want to. Some folks will say you don't need. Some will say add fuel additive. I've used fuel additives from jump street so, I didn't think I would need to replace the OEM CP4 but it was my money and I bought it. No harm no foul.
Truck just turned 35k miles, and I've used Power Service in it since new. It's a farm truck, but it's also my nicest truck and I travel in it occasionally. I'm just concerned with getting watered down fuel while traveling and having a horse trailer or such behind me.
The truck is missing a few components from the passenger side already, but is there anything else that would be advisable to do while I'm in there swapping out the pump? The only things I have on my list are rerouting the CCV and replacing the cold side I/C pipe.

I bought one of these to pull the Fan nut. You may be able to rent one from an auto parts store.

Thanks for the list of tools, and tips to follow, very much appreciated! Which gaskets (bolded above) did you purchase from RA? Could you post the link or part numbers? Again, thanks!

If you go to S&S's website, you can download the instructions for the kit and it gives you a list of all tools needed as well as the gaskets and Ford part numbers.

Yep, that is what I use Power Service in the Silver Bottle. One 32oz to my main tank. I've done so many mods to my truck. I think I'm done now. Not much for me to upgrade now.
If your truck is on a diet, then you could do:

I definitely agree on replacing the gasket kit... I certainly did on my truck as I was over 100k miles when I installed my S&S DPK...

My truck has an engine driven hydraulic pump running off an extra serpentine belt up front, so I'm reluctant to change anything that I don't need to because of space concerns.

Those aftermarket intakes look like they take up less space on top of the engine than the factory set up and many aftermarket companies offer CACs that fit exactly where the factory one sits. So it wouldn't effect your secondary fuel pump set up there in front... Unless you don't want to spend the extra money... Which I understand.

Gotcha.
It's actually a belt driven pump for a hydraulic bed to feed round bales of hay to my cows, with hydraulic hoses and such - located about where the 2nd alternator would have been installed.
I don't see the necessity in replacing the intake or intercooler from a reliability standpoint, plus I'm a relatively cheap b*stard.
