Yep, likely buying a 2005 FX4 this weekend, as a project car, Prior owner had those "pocket" style flares on there, and we all know how those destroy wheelarches. Plan is to replace all 4 fenders eventually, spray grey primer, and top coat with clear, the primer color will be permanent. With a couple additions, I plan to have a "sinister" looking truck.
Anyway, is that combination of primer/clear a good combo for longevity? What primer might be best?
Painting is a chemistry class today....pick one mfg line and stick with that...do not mix/match so to speak different mfg product lines. For selection, visit you local auto paint supplier...they will be our best resource!
Good advice as always Beechkid, thanks!
The deal fell through with the 150, second deal I lost, but I picked up a 2007 Jeep Commander. Has the 4.7 engine, very solid and quiet trans and engine both, full time 4X4 Quadratrac I system, various dents and brush marks, no big deal for what I plan as a trail rider/offroader, it's just going to get more on it.
Have all new coilovers and shocks coming, MotoFab 2" level/lift on both ends, 17X8 -12 Vision "D" window steelies coming, along with 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. I currently have those tires on my RWD '04 Ranger, very happy on that truck, can't wait to see how good they are with 4X4.
