Are you sure that's a bulb? I have a replacement switch for my truck, tilt wheel, which has that wire dangling to a square plastic fitting with a contact in it but it looks like it plugs into something. I don't have mine apart yet so not sure what it's for. Maybe youtube it and see if you can figure it out? Mine is not a bulb socket. It's square.
Yeah it’s definitely a bulb I see the one they sell on Amazon too that has that plastic connector you are talking about not sure what they are for my truck doesn’t have tilt steering but website says it will fit truck without tilt
When I bought my replacement I think there were two switches, tilt and no-tilt. Probably get the right one for your truck. There's a few threads on the switch replacement on this site. Check related threads.
The bulb is for the 70's trucks that had the PRNDL indicator on the steering column. It lights up the letters in that unit. That might be a generic picture, since I do not think any of the 80-up trucks had that.
