I have a 2003 Expedition 5.4L Eddie Bouer 2wd that is in great shape but needs a fuel rail, Ford part #: 2l1z9f792ea. Unfortunately, the part is discontinued and unavailable anywhere via internet search. My mechanic is trying junk yards but it is not looking good. Does anyone have any suggestions of shops that can build one or if there is a replacement generic part # that will work? The repair shop said that I may have to scrap the vehicle if they cannot find a part since it is an extreme fire risk and cannot be driven. I find it hard to believe that the truck would need to be scrapped over something that costs less than a couple hundred dollars since the truck is immaculate. Any ideas or leads are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Rob Williams
Just curious if your particular Expedition's drive train is so different from other's of the same year and engine type something can't interchange? Like yourself I can't believe the vehicle has to be scrapped, that there doesn't exist something some where that'd work perfectly?
