Versuspifous of our 7psi oil switch….that coulpled with random crank bearing and rod bearing fails poping up here and there…fords new variable oil pump and there new wiz bang filter .
why aren’t the oil switch wired to the dash 10, 20, 30psi ??? Probally becuase the non variable oil pump we have can’t sustain high oil pressures….and probally the old style oil filter would collapse .

is a design for airplane engines which provides constant oil pressure..if the engine oil pressure drops …this system will kick in and add oil pressure…when pressure is restored…the system shuts off. Also a good prestart oil liver.
Not sure exactly what you mean by wired to the dash, but you will definitely get a warning in the screen on the dash if there is no oil pressure, or something happens to the switch circuit. I agree with you however that the 7psi switch is too little too late and I added my own gauge so that I can keep an eye on oil pressure. It would be interesting to compare pressure readings from a newer variable pump 6.7 to mine and see what the difference is.

Lowest I've seen was about 16psi at idle with an EOT of 220. It normally hangs out in the 50ish range at 2000rpm. I'm using a Glowshift adapter and using a CTS3 as the monitor. I can get a picture in the morning. I'm not a huge fan of the sandwich adapter but have had 0 issues with it. Just have to pay attention when I change the oil and I always check the adapter to make sure it's tight. I can get a picture in the morning. I installed an identical setup on a buddy's truck and have had 0 issues with it as well. Interesting note is his carries a few more PSI than mine does but also has over 100K LESS miles than mine. Mine is currently at 218K. All of these pressures are with 5w40 in the crankcase.
There are a pair of ports on top of the factory filter housing you could T into as well or if you really wanted to go all bro-dozer you could get the SPE oil filter head and run the 1-1/8-16 filters but you loose the cold weather bypass.
I have seen pre-lubers pop up from time to time but seems fairly complex for a problem I rarely see, IMHO.
I thought about buying another stock housing and drilling and tapping it. Also thought about the SPE housing but not sure I want to run those Cat filters. Would be interesting to see if there is any kind of pressure drop though with that huge filter. Here's a couple photos of the pressure at different times. When the sun comes up I'll get a photo under the truck.
