I have a 2016 Ford F150 XL. Basically it's a stock radio. The best way to explain this would be I'm looking to replace the factory speaker set since passenger speaker is bad but I am just looking for a simple set but a little better than stock. I did find a set at Best Buy. Alpine
Yep, if you replace with one that's rated different it will sound off. Almost all aftermarket speakers are going to have abetter ohm and sensitivity rating than the OEM speakers, which are just paper with small magnets, but well matched to the low output of the factory radio.

actually OE speakers are typically pretty high sensitivity rated, but have low power handling (and sound quality). this is why OE headunits don't need to create a lot of power; it doesn't take much power to move a paper cone and thin flexible surround.
that said, it's pretty common to be underwhelmed by dropping aftermarket speakers into the place of the OE ones and still powering them with the OE headunit. i'm currently shopping for a replacement speaker for the middle position in the dash, and trying to find something with a minimum sensitivity rating of 90dB (just a threshold i've set).
Subscribed to this thread because I have been considering replacing the speakers in my truck, but don't want to mess with a new head unit or aftermarket amp.
It's crazy that searching under year and truck model brings up some expensive set's. I can't see spending upper $300 for a set of speakers. It's not like I'm living in it.lol. I'm more about getting rid of the blown speaker sound.
just look for something that's the same size that has a sensitivity rating at least in the mid 80's. without replacing the OE headunit and/or adding amplifiers inline, you're not going to magically have an audiophile sound system with just a speaker replacement, which doesn't sound like you're after anyways.
in short, no need to spend big money on speakers for your application.

I can understand that seeing I have no plans to do any type of upgrade. Mainly just replacing a bad speaker. Thanks
