Members,
My 65 Fender emblems have seen better days, and as we all know 65 isn’t being reproduced and 66 is only a true last resort.
Any ideas how to clean them up, either painted or ? I was thinking possibly sanding them for a brushed nickel look?
I keep hearing that the tabs will break installing the new red, I Beam piece.
Thank You!
I’ve seen everything through out the internet. What’s out there is no better then what I have, not including the nos for a ton of money.
Im thinking more in line of a rat rod, budget build…
I would not recommend the sticker option, but the paint ones came out nicely. The truck is parked outside and it still looks great. I am planning to produce a few more since there is quite some interest here in the forum.
Whatever you decide...if the tabs break just glue the plastic insert in with dabs of epoxy.
My tabs popped off and were rusty. I just made new ones out of jbweld and put them in place while still soft so they dried in place attached as the old ones were.
Old thread; however, better late than never? I have not decided yet I have a set of 65 fender emblems that I am contemplating having them plated, since they are pot metal the company offers a process where the chrome is sprayed on rather than re-chromed. Been quite some time since last contacted, had the instrument gauge bezels done and came out very nice; one does not use a buffing wheel on the item because the chrome spray is thin. Seem to recall the price for the Bezel was reasonable as mentioned years ago at $45 ea.
Decided to sell my other 65 so not sure I am going to have the fender emblems done.
