This forum has been invaluable in assisting me with getting my recent purchase back in running condition. Unfortunately. a dream project car has appeared and since I can't justify (or care for) both the F100 needs a new caretaker. I'm having a hard time in determining a reasonable price. During my tenure I've put on new wheel & master cylinders, flushed the brake system, new battery, replaced the aftermarket electric fuel pump with another aftermarket one, new battery and an initial cleaning.
It a 1954 that (with the exception of the bed & later wheels) is in mostly original condition. It has what looks to be the original Y-block V8 and all original drivetrain. Engine readily cranks, runs, drives and stops. Three speed manual column shift works well. Body appears to be exceptionally solid-I haven't noticed any rust thru or bad spots. I've checked several areas with a fridge magnet and found no signs of repair, BUT I have NOT checked every square inch.
It is an excellent candidate for either restoration back to original or as a great start for someone's personal touch. My plan was just to drive it pretty much as is (maybe painting the bed-I'm not a fan of the raw aluminum look) and making it a "rolling" restoration. Fixing the things that need immediate attention, keeping my eyes open for a proper bed, cleaning up/replacing the wiring (harness has had some "mods" act additions that don't quite make sense-then again most trucks/cars off this vintage have them too!), adding turn signals and likely upgrading the brakes.
Other than the unoriginal bed (if it was painted it probably would look much better) a new caretaker would need to plan on tires, a full proper tune-up, with new points, cap plugs, wires, etc.
So I'm open to ideas on a reasonable valuation. I don't think it's a 20K+ truck like some guides are showing but it's not a 4k rusty, non-running project either. Questions and comments are appreciated..Here's some pics. I've been told that the top cab chrome trim above the windshield and doors was part of a "deluxe" package. Was the recess in the rear fender (spare tire) part of a package also? If you can't tell from the comments, I'm not a fan of this bed though someone did a nice job of recreating one. Upholstery looks to be similar to pool table felt bit the interior is pretty much original and unmolested. Damn, seeing this photo is giving me second thoughts
The most important issues, to me, is rust and a title.
If it has minimal rust and a valid title, that matches the frame then it is probably worth around $10,000 or maybe more.
I am no expert, but the area within the country makes a difference in value. I am just going by what I have seen them go for.
Thanks for the info. I should have put location in. The truck is located in the Charlotte, NC area. I'm in process of getting the title in my name. I'm pretty familiar with the MG market, but it's been many years since I had an old truck to sell.
I'd consider one in part trade (depending on condition) but I think in your case shipping might be too much-I'm in North Carolina, a bit of a distance from Washington!
I'd say anything close to 20K if anyone who's willing to come as close to that in the higher teens and you have fair price. Look at Bring a Trailer and Hagerty Valuation Tools for more information. Mecum and Barret Jackson Auctions as well.

20K ??
no one is paying 20k for it. 4 pics to go by and I'd say $10,000 is pushing it.
I went to the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale late last year. The 53-56 trucks that I saw were all restored and they went for less than what it would cost to do a build.
I agree that if you can get 20K, I would go for it. My guess is between 10-15K with a clean title. For those who want an original truck, it is nice. For those who want to do a restomod, there is an entire drivetrain that will not be used.
If it is relatively rust free, that is worth a lot of money for those who want a nice truck. You just need to find the right buyer.
While it appears to be very solid truck, I think 20K might be pushing it a bit too much. But I do think a solid body should warrant a bit of a premium.
It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I'd put it up for $12k and see what offers you get. Ignore the low ballers, there's going to be quite a few, and you will get some legitimate offers. When you get an offer close to what you want, go from there.
I know there are many other trucks (and cars) for sale with prices that are just insane! Not to sure how many actually sell. Like SRGN said, "It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay."
Anyway, I came across this truck today. Seems like a lot of truck for 23k. Maybe it's just bait to get you to their site.
