Another newbie

I just bought a 01 Expedition Eddie Bauer w/ miles for $22.5k - me thinks this was a good deal

I am involved in several dirt bike forums and have had help and advice COUNTLESS times. Having found a forum for my new truck makes me very happy. I'm sure everything I need to know is in here.

Topics I will research include .... which performance/efficiency mods and in which order? chip or exhaust? Seems like both so which is the best bang for the buck and which first? DVD system - custom install or portable?

And don't worry, I will use search and not ask the same question that has been answered over and over and over ... Of course, if someone feels like taking mercy upon me and wants to direct me, I wouldn't hate it

Thanks ... I think I'll ask a question right now.

The first thing I've learned is that I need a cat-back exhaust system. I'm assuming this means to replace everything from the catalytic converter and back? (Hence the term "cat-back"?)

Yep, your truck should have dual cats, so it is easy to make a true dual exhaust system. Just remove the Y pipe.

mistercmk - i've yet to crawl under it but you say that i have duel catalytic converters? there is a Y after the cats so i can just cut it off and go straight back from each cat?

That's correct. It has a pipe going from the drivers side cat over to the passenger side, and then the Y pipe. You can take the y pipe off run new pipe all the way to the back for dual exhaust. At least that's the way it is on my 2000. Next time I have it up on ramps, I'll try to remember to take a picture for you.
