All, i am having a strange “cackle” type sound coming from my 2000 7.3. I thought at first it might be related to my exhaust manifold leak on the drivers side. I have since replaced the old manifold and put motorcraft gasket and bolts. The noise is still present. I do not have any noticeable soot on the up pipes either. The sound appears to be coming from the drivers side. My truck is bone stock except for the Riffraff FRX I recently installed. The noise was present before and after the FRX. I’m certain this noise is not mechanical related (ie. rockers, push rods etc) since when driving down the road at 55mph coasting with no throttle the noise is gone and only present with light throttle. When accelerating hard it’s not noticeable. The truck has plenty of power and does not smoke or have mixing fluids. I’m at a loss. Please help! You can hear it especially when the rpms are around 1500 in the video.
I can't really here it in that video but when I had that it was injector number eight. I replaced it myself and it was good to go! Unplug one injector at a time and see if it goes away. I could really here mine in a parking structure!

I’m half wondering if I don’t have a manifold leak on the passenger side. Now that I’ve changed the driver side and he sound is reduced some. You have any experience with exhaust leaks on these trucks? If so, could it sound like this?
No experience with exhaust leaks but people on here have. Most don't use gaskets because they don't last long. It is better to surface the manifold then use a gasket. But it won't hurt to change it if that's what you think it is. Put a hose up to you ear and listen to the manifold all over. If it's leaking you should be able to here it!
Sounds like a bad injector to me. If so there should be some codes.
OTOH an easy check is to disconnect the 42 pin harness and crank it over. Listen for even, regular cranking speed. An uneven speed up could be bad compression on one or more cylinders.
Definitely a knocking sound, try to determine which side it is, then swap offending cylinder injector to another cylinder and see if the sound follows if it does obviously you have a bad injector, if not something on the bottom end is about to give.
I agree that is a bad injector. If you do not have access to a breakout box then just unplug each injector one at a time to determine which one is causing the knock.

No codes, or compression issues. Also zero blow by on motor.
Here’s a crude video of me cruising. You can hear the knock/cackle/rattle type sound and it really appears to be injector related since when i let off the throttle and the injectors quit firing the noise stops. It really seems to be coming from the passenger side.
When my number 8 injector went bad there was no codes! I believe it was in the injector not electrical so no codes. I had the e 99 so no long lead injector either. I just put back in the same and problem solved.
