flat head spring compresser

I have a couple of burned valves on a flat head 6 and am trying to grind them inplace with the engine in the truck. Problem is i can't find a rental source for a flathead spring compresser. The rental places only carry the overhead style. Can anybody help me out here?

Just a thought, Check with the local tractor repair shops or ford tractor dealer. There are still alot of those old flat head engines in use.

I saw at Sears the other day a valve spring compressor for "L head or valve-in-block engines" for $20. I know you said rental, but I didn't think it was priced too expensive.

I would be very interested to know what you find, as I am fixing to do the same thing to my truck. I will check out the one at sears too.

Scot123 - i just returned from my local sears where they don't carry a spring compresser for flat heads and the sears master catalogue doesn't show any either. Anybody elae have any ideas?
NAPA carries them but they want $75
