Question XL manual locks and windows to Powered

I want to convert my doors on my truck to be powers, and I want to use actual ford parts and not those cheap automatic manual windows. Is it a hard task to get the wiring and hardware to function without major modification to the wiring harness?

It's possible but it won't be plug and play... the under dash wiring for powered windows and locks(which are always packaged together) doesn't exist on your truck so you will have to figure out what is needed and how to add that on your own.

If you convert to electric windows you are asking for breakdowns at some point, yes even when using genuine Ford parts. Both my trucks listed in my signature have power windows and locks and I would be happy with manual crank and lock that were reliable.

Not necessarily trying to talk you out of trying to convert, but forewarning you.

If I had an XL with manual windows, I'd just leave it that way.

If I remember correctly, the plug for the power door harness is under the passenger kick panel near the fuel shutoff switch. It’s just a connector that the harness plugs into, but to install it right you’d have pull the dash and run the harness behind it. So it is “plug and play” but it’s an absolute pain to do it.

Id like to have a power window on the passenger only. But i can also unclip my seatbelt and scoot over to open it if needed. lol.
