I'm installing power door lock actuators on my 2003 F-150 and the instruction say: "Connect separate red wire form wiring harness to the battery (+) or to a constant source of 12 voltage." I want to know what other constant source of 12V can I plug it into so that I won't have to run the cable all the way under the hood to the battery.
I work at cirucit city and i also have a 03f150 i just installed a alpine alarm this summer. you should be able to hook up 12volt on the same wire as the alarm. if you have not done that then try looking at a wire diagram for that truck. you hve any questions just email back.
I just bought an automatic doorlocking set on the internet, no alarm, no remote start but simple 5 wire actuators and a remote opener from Crimestopper with FOB's (who knows where that acronym stands for?). The Crimestopper set actually allows to hook up the interior cab light so you can see inside the cab when you open the doors with the FOB. However it does not tell you where this wiring can be found, the color and the polarity. Crimestopper as well as the person I bought the set from have not responded to my E-mails so far. Any suggestions?
If you ground the Orange/Light Green wire at the headlight switch that will turn on the courtesy lights. It's probably the easiest place to tie into.
If you dont have a negative output from the door lock module that you're installing you could find the Black/Light Blue wire that goes to the courtesy light and power that to turn on the lights.
Grounding the Og/LG wire would be better though as then the relay in the fuse box will be what powers up the lights.
