cab swap super to regular

I did some searching but only thing I'm finding is people doing the opposite, swapping a regular cab to super or crew.
My super is rotted in rear drivers side and as most with supers know, parts are unobtanioum /not available.
Anyone swap a super to regular, cab mounts will be different but how much fab is going to be needed? vs fabbing up metal to replace the rot on my super.
I haven't decided which direction I want to go yet. I just know I need to do something soon before the rear bench decides to drag down the road one day.

With out having both trucks at hand to measure this is just a guess.
The nose and front cab mounts should be the same between the 2 cabs.

The guess part the rear cab mounts would be different locations.
I would think you could move the frame mount forward to match the reg cab.
Then again I think the rear mount also is part of the side tank mount so maybe it cant be moved?
Maybe a 2nd one added next to it?
That is the only thing that comes to mind at this time for fitment.

But what are you going to do about the gap between the cab & bed as the cab is shorter now?

I figure fit a storage box for the space between my flat bed and the new cab if I go that route. Not even sure I'm ok with that look either.
I'm guessing as well since I've never contemplated a cab swap before.
Trying to visualize the best way to go about this. I'll crawl under and look at the rear cab mounting and check what you mentioned about side tank.

I dont know how the cab rear cross meber is run on the extra cab but here is my reg cab witha 16 gallon tank used with a short bed.

With a long bed 19n gallon tank would not fit in its place as the tank is longer forward

I did not look over the long bed reg cab frame tank rear cross member was located before I gave it away but from what I can see that rear tank cross member had to be moved back some.

I wonder on the extra cab they may have moved the cab rear mount cross member back for the cab but left the long bed 19 gallon tank rear cross member where it was?
Crap I forgot the frame had to be made longer for the cab so I am guessing it was added between the rear cab mount cross member and the front.
This way the tank cross members would stay where they need to be for the tank and still line up for the cab.

Saying that and needing a new rear cab cross member and not able to move the extra cab one because of the tank I think you would need to get another cross member and set it forward on the frame. I wonder if the frame would have the holes for it but if not I dont think it be that hard to drill new ones. I have to do that for my over drive install for the transmission cross member.
