performance for a 4.6

i have an 03 f150 with a 4.6 and a 5spd, i want to get more power out of it. it has dual exhaust, a cold air intake, and a jet chip. any other good performance items? also is it possible to make an f150s 4.6 into a cobra 4.6, dual overhead cam 4 valve?

If you like big headaches go for it. Unless you just buy a complete dohc motor to put in your truck. Don't forget a new computer and harness also I believe. You might have better luck trying to do the Bullitt set-up with the shaker hood. On a F150... that would be sweet. Full length headers with an X pipe. What's the gear ratio in your ride.

I have a 2003 150 with 4.6 engine. I've added a Volant cold air induction with a Granatelli 80mm Mass air flow sensor. Cold air induction didn't seem to add much but when I added the maf it leaps to life when you give it a little pedal. I'm going to add a Diablo chip to see if that will give it a little more *****.

hi folks, I am new to this so please enlighten me. What is a mass air flow sensor? Where does it go and how much does it cost?
Also, how hard is it to install as I am a novice.
I just bought my first new truck. 04 f-150 xlt 4.6

I would like to raise front end similar to what you did-how did it affect the ride and how do you adjust the torsion bars?

turned- the bolts in facing downwards on the back part of torsion bar- 5 even turns in- may be a tad firmer- in 15k miles- tires still wear perfect

A couple of things will get you more HP, a throttle body spacer and a new MAF. If you do any of these things, you will need to have your chip reprogrammed and also reset your truck's computer (disconnect the battery for 30 minutes). My 4.6L will take out stock 5.4L's with no problem. If I had bought a 5.4L instead, I can only imagine the HP I would be producing with the mods I have done so far.

I got that recommendation from a diesel performance expert I know (ie he owns a performance shop). I figured if he can get a 3/4 ton diesel truck to do a 1/4 mile in 13 seconds I will listen to him.

To answer your question about if I have dyno tested my own truck, no. I like more power but I'm not too worried about exactly how much more power I am putting out. I should get it tested someday though.

I adjusted the torsion bar 5 turns-not sure if it really did much-steering seems to float a little-maybe it's just my imagination.
