The Excursion Project continues
will start here.
my signature shows all the previous stuff.
Today, I looked to see what the Mechanic found, he verified my opinion that the Compressor had shelled out, it was pulsating 140 psi to 170 psi when I first checked it, and outlet dash temp was ~80*F on a 100* day....
it is 40* now, waiting until Thursday for a 79* prediction so he can finish up the A/C and make sure it is doing what it should.
the Body mounts are new now, all of the other bushings were about 15 years overdue for a change.
the new compressor is in with nearly a full charge, the old Orings laying on the box,
I provided him with a full Flushing Kit ready to go, so he did not have to order any chemicals or the tools..... didn't ask if he had them, I just wanted them for myself anyway.
On long trips, after the cabin humidity is gone, it will pull us down into the Freezer category

the dogs in the back should be huddled up tight

$753.00 for AC work, and replacing all of the body mounts and bushings.
I think my mechanic treats me very fair.
I always give him a loose time window, we agree that my truck is 2nd or 3rd to everything in his shop, this time, it took 3 weeks to get the work done, in between his Engine Replacements, broken tie rods, etc....
I don't mind, because he does not charge me heavily on Labor.
Compressor $245.00
Dryer $75.00
Orifice Tube $10.00
new Belt for the pulleys $67.00
labor for every thing $365.00
the other shop I could use, Charged me $1850 just to repair the AC in my '01 Suburban.
He gave me a long spiel about how they never do "shortcuts" and Warranty their work.
I think I will skip that Warranty, my mechanic and I are on very good terms.
I provided him with 4 quarts of 99% Isopropyl alcohol, the Flush kit, and a few other things that I had bought intending to do the work myself...
he commented that a whole lot of grunge was flushed out, it was "Green in color" ??
