When I put it in park the P doens't light up. This prevents the truck from going to "sleep" mode and kills the batteries.
This is a 2008 F350 6.4. Any ideas?
Had this same issue when I was bench testing a few clusters, the shift interlock solenoid on the column that requires you to push the brake to shift also tells the cluster when the shifter is in park and if the cluster never sees this go to ground it won’t go to sleep.
As said above, make sure the transmission is truly going into park, no shift cable issues or large clumps of dirt around the shifter mechanism on the transmission, if that’s all good check the shift interlock solenoid on the top of the column and see if that green wire is going to ground when in park.
@ifrythings looks like I can get the light to stay on if I "gently" put it in park, but if I slam it in park and push it forward the light goes off. Also, I can start the truck without pressing on the brake.
