and I know, people hate these questions so please bear with me as no local shops will do what I want.
Another exhaust question before I suck it up and buy the diamond eye system and make my own cat delete pipe for it.
Has anyone bought the race exhaust kit from dieselology? It looks like just the ticket that I’m looking for, but I’m curious about any fitment issues and if they are a reputable place to buy from online. I’ll add couple screen shots from the website if that might help jog someone’s memory. it looks like a decent, well priced 4” kit that deletes both the cat and the muffler which is exactly what I’m trying to find.
I’ve found that when I call anyone to ask about the systems they sell they won’t even discuss deleting the cat even for a ‘race’ type exhaust.
I have no problem buying there diamond eye and figuring out how to delete the cat myself, I’d just prefer an all in one kit.
If my best option is to make my own delete pipe that’s fine, or if anyone has any other thoughts I’d appreciate it.
Thanks all, below are the screen shots I mentioned
When I purchased my 97, it still had the stock exhaust on it. I purchased the 3" Diamond Eye down pipe, and just punched the guts out of the cat, and reinstalled it. This might be an option for you. If you live in a state where they smog check, this option makes it look like the cat is still in place.

I’ve thought about it and I might do that, but I would prefer a full straight pipe when it’s all said and done.
Not sure how much difference in sound that option makes, but the resonator on my f150 made a lot of difference which would be about the same difference as a gutted cat on this truck I would assume.
Also I live in Indiana so no worries about any of that mess since I’m not commercial. Just don’t be stupid and give the police a reason to look.
When I installed my diamondeye I just ordered an extra 4 feet of 4 inch with one end expanded (for another project) then cut it to fit.
this here is the kinda information I was hoping for in my last post. How did you attach at the down pipe? Cut the end off the cat to retain the flanged fitting and clamp/weld the new pipe too it? Or cut the flange off he down pipe and clamp/weld the new pipe directly too it?
And I assume it’s a slip fit with a clamp down at the other end like the rest of the kit. Bonus points for a picture or two
This thread is relevant to my interests. I am about to go through this myself.
I’ve only found a couple options so far that offer the cat delete pipe. The one I show above which looks good as far as I can tell but I can’t find any reviews on. Also there is a jammo brand on cp addict and I can’t find much on it either (it’s Also like 5 or 6 weeks from the time you order it). Thoroughbred diesel has one branded Mel’s fab or something similar but they were designed in Canada so they are for trucks without a rear fuel tank and require modifying a brand new $600 exhaust to fit a rear tank truck.
some sites list the diamond eye with the cat delete, but every one I have found has been out of stock.
It seems the best option is the diamond eye and getting a separate pipe to delete the cat. I’ve just been trying to find out what that would look like, or what all is involved in doing it so I can get everything all at the same time. If I have to I can figure it out after the fact, but surely someone can answer that question.
I have a 97 diesel I recently purchased that had a completely deleted system with a 4 inch pipe, though I think it was a custom build, not a pre-ordered pipe. Regardless, the drone in the cab was intolerable, so keep that in mind. I ended up picking up a Jones turbine muffler that fit the 4 inch pipe and put in where the CAT originally was.
Most of the universal kits should fit up to a crew cab long bed so there might be enough pipe left for a cat delete. I recently installed a kit that was setup with a cat delete pipe.

That is a good thought that might work out. I’ll have to look at that and see when I order it. If you don’t mind saying what kit did you go with that had the delete pipe?

I’ll keep that in mind. I guess that’s the nice thing about these clamp together kits, is they should be fairly easy to modify if I don’t like it. At least as far as adding a muffler down the road
But for now I’m having the chance to do what I wish I could have done in high school so we’re going for loud right now.
Also this truck won’t get driven just a crazy amount as I have a work truck and an f150 that is my ‘nice’ vehicle and an 87 f250 460 with true dual straight pipes that is my farm/plow/beating on truck.
