Red top optima's used to be recommended but if I recall their quality has gone down? How about these?

Still considered a good AGM option. Made by EnerSys (like Odyssey)now if I'm not mistaken.

I'm using an Odyssey and so far, it has been decent. Bought it X'mas eve of 22. As long as it lasts for about 3.75 years I'll be good with a new one.

I just installed a new pair of the group 65 everstart platinum AGM I purchased from Walmart mail order FOR my 2018 F350. They were directly shipped from Johnson controls out of Michigan to Arizona. The packaging with the best box I've ever received, both batteries arrived in perfect condition and I'm super pleased. And the best part was pricing $149.76 each. Upon receipt I charged both of them fully, load tested them. They are working perfect. After I pulled out the leaking OEM batteries, I baking soda the clamp system and the boxes they sat in, and repainted the clamps with some rustoleum black paint. Slid the insulator covers off the stock batteries and put them on the new everstarts. They should be good for a long long time and no acid leaking

I saw a question a while back asking if changing to AGM batteries requires a Forscan software change. Is that valid?

Arod has a video of his AGM Battery installation in his personal truck, and it shows him going into the BCM to change the charging profile to AGM.

That might depend on what year of SD. My 2019 came from the factory with battery monitoring system= none, and battery type = not configured. I left it as is after installing AGM batteries. I haven't experienced any problems and it charges at the correct voltage for an AGM battery. I did do the BMS reset procedure just for the hell of it.

2020+ do have a different battery monitoring system than earlier years. But, there have been 2020+ owners who made no setting changes and didn't have any issues as a result.
