Tranny Question!!

If i were to run 31" tires on my Ranger....what would that do to the transmission...would it kill it. Do they make a tougher transmission for a 2000 V6 3.0L 2wd XLT Ranger? Also..because of the added weight of the tires I'll be adding performance parts to boost HP and torque. It just seems that, from the added power in the engine to the added weight of the larger tires, it would eat my transmission up. Any insight?

The amount of drivetrain mass that the trans is capable of turning is directly relative to the rear end and tranny gear ratios. You could put higher ratio diffs in to reduce the strain on the tranny. Also a big trans cooler(huge if you don't change the diffs.) would help to keep the under load temps down.

Any ideas where I may be able to find a higher ratio gear kit and a larger tranny cooler.

Check the classifieds and do a parts search. Both are on the right upper side of the page. Also, check the 4x4 forum.
