Well I did it. It took me 5-6 hours (including cleanup) working by myself. My son helped me take the hood off and my wife helped (getting tools while I was under the truck). Then brother in law and son helped put the hood back on.
I went ahead and lifted the engine to give me more clearance but it was not necesary. I thought I might have to take the pan totally out since I was hearing debris dropping in the pan as I took the old gasket off. I could reach in and clean them out in the shallow part but, not tin the deep. Father in law (Ford service manager) came over and said not to worry about what little is left since the filter would catch it. I said OK and put it back together. I got good pressure (between the R and M on the gauge) and no leaks.
The wife asked how much I saved doing it my self I told her $200. I am now thinking maybe more. I'll ask Father in law. Well worth the trouble.
