I had previously posted about what I thought was a belt squeal on my 99 Explorer, well I now know it isn't the belt at all. The chirp/squeal was very loud this morning and so I dropped the serp. belt and started it up, sound still there. Now it sounded more like something internal to the engine. Almost like metal on metal.
Dropped it off at the shop and waiting to hear from them. I think I smell some big money repairs coming.
Yes. As a matter of fact I just had the oil changed last week and thought maybe that was the cause of the noise as well.
The strange thing is the noice comes and goes. When the shop started it to bring it in to the garage it started making the noise but as soon as it was in and the hood up, the noise stopped.
They are keeping it over night to see what happens in the AM when they start it.
