Hello,
so i have owned this truck for going on 3 years. it is a 1996 F350 with a terminator t500 hpop, wicked wheel turbo, zf5 trans, and some other small things.
I have recently noticed when i go to pass someone or just go wot at all the truck doesn’t seem to have any get up and go. and actually it smokes a little then i get a cel. and to add the misfire and cel disappears after i turn the truck off and back on
i decided to hook up forscan and these are my results. in the first picture (the one where icp is above 23,000 kpa) is just getting up to speed heavy acceleration but not wot.
second picture is wot trying to get up to speed the ipr gets stuck at 87.5% and then just drops off as soon as the cel comes on.
does this look to be a bad hpop? maybe ipr?
i’m sorry for the lack of info. any help would be greatly appreciated.
pull fuel filter and check for black pleats, if black oring gone on injectors
Pull valve covers off when hot and run at idle and look for oil coming out of spouts or from base of injector
f from base then orings gone on injectors
Check tinnerman nut on IPR for tight,
Is it a ford part?
you ever rebuild it?
thank you guys for the quick responses. i will test all of these when i get off work tomorrow. so my truck has aftermarket intercooler, i have to reatach my pipes before running it without the valve covers correct?
ok guys i’m back with some updates. i did not yet take the valve covers off and run it yet because i want to see what you guys think of this information first.
So first thing i did was pull the fuel filter. as you can see in these pictures filters internals are clean and the fuel inside is clean. next up i popped the hood and checked the usual stuff. i pulled the plug for the icp and it the inside is covered in oil. i did clean the plug off a little for the picture. i then looked into the valley and noticed the rear retaining clip for the hpop is halfway popped out with oil in the valley. i have had a valley oil leak that i have not been able to find: this looks to be it. would this be considered a high pressure oil leak? causing my issues? the ipr nut does not feel or look loose. couldn’t budge it by hand. i pulled the plug for the heck of it and the plug rubber insulator seems to be melted. i should add the truck does have a completely electric fuel system hence no fuel bowl and aftermarket filters on the frame.
what do you guys thinks the best move from here.
You definitely need to address the clip. When it fails it will be unfortunate. You should be able to repair it. It looks like it is a culprit for your oil leak. I would also replace the ICP sensor. Oil in the connector is a good warning that it is close to failure. Motor craft only for the part
the good thing about troubleshooting is that you find some unexpected things that may be the cause of yours problems. I would put the injector orings on the back burner until these issues are resolved.

Ok i got to ordering i got a new icp on the way, the rear plate o ring, and a rebuild kit of the ipr. All from riff raff diesel. i’ll keep you guys updated as i go!
Hello; i’m back with an update. so my parts all came in last night. so today i replaced the icp, rebuild the ipr and replaced the rear seal on hpop. the rear o ring was in fact bad. i was not thinking and did not drain the hpop oil. rookies mistake. not a big deal i built a drain when i put a new clutch in the truck so i just put a drain bucket to catch the oil. it is all back together but now i am getting a crank so start condition. icp and ipr are in fact plugged in. i filled the hpop reservoir 1/2 inch from the top. oil level in pan is good. using forscan i can see with key on ipr is at 15%. when cranking it goes to 87% and icp sits at about 200 psi. i even tried unplugging icp. reading goes to 2400 but still no start.
