Power lock problems
I am having trouble with the power door locks on my 2000 Excursion. Not all of the door unlock or lock when the lock/unlock buttons are pressed. The drivers door always works but the other doors are hit and miss.
From what I read in here searching on 'power locks' the general wisdom is that the actuators are the problem, but I could not find a post that had the same problem as me. Does this sound correct to you? (Actuators) I would like some confirmation before I head into fixing it.
I am experienced with fixing vaccuum assisted locks in Porsches that have problems. But my understanding is that the Fords use a different system. Can some body explain to me the basic design of the locking system for the vehicle?
Ready to get my hands dirty.
Thanks,

This is a well known issue on the Super Duty and Excursion. Do some searching and you'll find several posts regarding replacement. The actuators have small motors and gears in them. The motors on mine failed, and I replaced all four actuator assemblies. The new design appears to be much better.
Part are less than $150 for all four from fordpartsonline.com.
