Hey there fellas. I really need some help. I purchased a 2017 f-350 4x4 sight unseen and had it shipped across the county. I new it wasn’t coming with a bed but I was okay with sourcing one. I got my truck and already bought a 2017 f-250 short bed take off at a salvage yard. I went and got my bed painted to match and am now ready for the install. I put the bed on the truck, matches the size perfect but there is an issue. It does not sit flat on the trucks frame rails from front to back. It sits on the 2 center most cross members of the bed but the cross member closest to the cab and the crossmember closest to the rear don’t touch! You can rock the bed as it basically is pivoting on those center crossmembers. No portion of the bed is damaged or bent and the trucks frame is not damaged, I don’t understand what is going on. I am going to post pictures in the morning but I’m really confused how this is the case. I have removed beds from other trucks and reinstalled and they have always made contact at each bolting point. Can someone please help!
Is the truck originally a cab and chassis model? It has been a while but I think I remember reading how the chassis are different on the cab and chassis models versus the models that come with a bed installed.
Yeah, C&C trucks have a straight flat frame, pickup frames are contoured over the axle area.
But, as to the OP's issue, I do believe there are stands on the frame that the bed sits on.
What was the truck used for before you bought it?
If someone had taken the original bed off and put a flat bed or utility bed on, they may have removed the bed stands.
From what I have read you are right the chassis version has a completely flat frame in the rear. Mine looks like the pictures I’ve seen with a high point over the rear axle and then sloping down at the rear. I’m attaching pics to the end of the thread. Thanks so much for your help.

maybe that’s what the problem is. Currently there is nothing additional on the frame that the bed would be sitting on. The beds crossmembers are making direct contact with the frame at the cross members closest to the axle. The farther away from the center the bigger the gap between the frame and the bed….. I am going to upload some photos now so you can get a better idea of what I’m dealing with.

That might be my problem because there isnt anything between the frame and the bed cross members The bed is not bolted in this picture and I can basically rock it, pivoting on the high point over the axle. Closest crossmemebr to the cab The farthest rear mounting point has the largest gap from frame to bed This is the second from the back, slight gap but not much. This crossmember is directly in front of the axle hump and is making contact. This crossmembers is directly behind the axle and is making contact
What year model is the bed you bought?
I was going to post pics I took of mine just now, but mine is a 2022, and the frame is definitely different.
And, on mine, the front mounting stands are much taller.
After looking at the pics I just took of mine, I am thinking that you have a C&C truck, not a pickup, but not sure on a 17.
Here's a pic of my truck's front bed mount bracket.
Go check out some YouTube videos that show 5th wheel prep install on the Super Duty. It will give you some additional visuals of what the frame looks like where the bed sits. From what I have seen, there aren't any spacers or risers, it's just the crossmembers under the bed that make contact with the attachment points of the frame. Can you see all the captured nuts for each mount point on the frame?
Just took these from the passenger side of my '19. They are in order from front mount to rear.

His is definitely the pickup frame. The difference you are seeing is more likely from yours being a LB frame, and his a SB.

Well, then the question remains, why does his have so much space between the rear bed crossmembers and the truck frame with it sitting solidly on the front mounts???
Was why I was wondering what year the bed is, something doesn't match.

the guy I bought the bed from “said” it was from a 2019 but now I have no idea… I thought the beds from 17-22 were all the same. I am at a total loss for what to do. A buddy of mine suggested cutting into the crossmembers to make it sit more flush. What are your thoughts on doing that?
