Thanks for the confirmation that the D60/70 diff covers use the same gasket. I’m planning to use the lube locker gasket. Their website did not list a gasket for the D70, so I wanted to make sure their D60 gasket would work.

If you don't want it to leak forget the gasket and just use TRS.

i've never used TRS, but i've used the stock gaskets and rtv and both work perfectly fine (although with the rtv it took me time to learn that you can use a lot less than you think)

with the lube locker gaskets, they go on dry so there is no mess, I've never had a leak, and they are reusable. the down side is they are 2-2.5x the cost of a stock gasket and a tube of rtv is more versatile.

TRS has made gaskets obsolete for most things. the factory's have been using it for years because it's faster, cheaper and doesn't leak.

I am a Lube Locker fan also. One and done and reusable, and no RTV mess. Made for the easiest 3rd member reinstallation ever.

TRS (The Right Stuff) is awesome and my normal go-to when I can not get a Lube Locker gasket. https://www.permatex.com/product-tag/trs/

Motorcraft TA-31. It’ll never leak and the next person to take it apart will hate you. They might even destroy the cover trying to get it off. It’s my favorite!

Yep, that’s the stuff. There was a tsb back in the day to specifically use this stuff on 7.3 diesel oil pans to prevent comebacks due to leaking. It works phenomenally, it just doesn’t want to let go…ever.

Ive always wondered what it actually is, since Motorcraft just makes red paint and stickers. There were guys on a tech group I was in a few years back getting shipments of TA-357 that still had the loctite logo under the Motorcraft sticker.
