Several things happened tonight on my way to work. First, my cruise control wouldn't work. Worked fine on the way home after work yesterday. Then at lunch went to move my truck closer to gate and remote entry wouldn't work. Got in and started fine. Headlights seemed a little dim. Charge indicator was in normal range. Cleaned grime and dirt off lense, looked better but not there all the way. Longer truck ran, better it got. So, satisfied all was o.k.. Shut engine off and removed key, fan for heater continued to run. Rotated heater/ac control switch to off, fan stopped. Wouldn't come back on unless turned key on as norm. And then remote entry worked when I locked truck. Haven't looked into any of this yet as I am still at work. Any one see anything like this before? Don't know if they are all related or seperate issues. Any input welcome.
O.K., I now believe the remote entry and dim headlights were caused by the battery being low due to the failure of the fan motor to shutoff. Now then, I have some additional info. On the drive home this morning, upon startup, the ABS light illuminated and remains on. And during the drive home, approx 1 hour, I had a series of beeps from the dash occur 3 times. 5 beeps repeated 4 times = 1 series. About 15 minutes between series. Will give the dealer a call today. Looking for some help here to avoid the " Bring it on in and we'll take a look" spiel.
Pulled, inspected, and reconnected connectors for as many sensors I could find. Found nothing obvious. Scanned computer, no fault codes. Started truck to go talk to dealer and everything is working as it should. Loose connector, wire/pin, or bad connection. Don't know, but it seems to be fixed for now. Dealer suggested keeping a tube of dielectric grease handy and applying it to any connectors I may take off in the future. Corrosion and bad grounds cause of many electrical problems.
Could be your rear differential speed sensor causing the ABS light. In most cases you will also have speedometer troubles. The speed sensor is easy to change and cheap, 20 minutes and less than 20 bucks. Go to the Super Duty FAQ and look under "transmission shift" problems and I believe da "Monsta" has posted the part number.
