Lost driveshaft boot

Sooo I have no idea how long I’ve been driving without it… haven’t had any issues, but was under her doing a look around to see if the joints needed lube before a trip down to Tx next week and noticed it was missing…. So far I think I’ll have to order the boot as everyone at the parts store and ford are confused on the part number. Biggest question… can I just shoot it with lube for now to make it through the trip and not be worried or do I need to rig something up to make this trip?

Wish I could help, on my 01, the part numbers returned at the dealership I always use, were actually backwards. Front part came in as rear, and likewise for the rear. There might be part numbers in my thread.

I’ll have to take a look. I’ll definitely feel better with another boot on there, but sounds like she’ll be good without it… now just to figure out what lube to use lol

The PTFE lube is also available in a 3oz squeeze tube, it’s labeled as XG-8. Amazon has it for $18. The little tube is plenty to lube the slip joint and it lasts a long time.

The Amazon link I posted does give an option to chose a 3 Oz @ $17.86 instead of the 1 pound can.

Does anyone have a part number for the boot? OEM, Spicer, etc. My 2005 needs one as well.
