Hello all. I am new. Just picked up a used 17 with the 6.7L. The tires were completely worn out when I bought the truck. I have decided to leave my factory wheels/tires alone and get a new set of wheels and tires. This TPMS stuff is making my head spin. I have never owned anything new enough to have to deal with this. I bought these off Ebay thinking I would be good to go. Ebay Well, the local tires shop says their relearn tool isnt picking them up. I called the local Ford dealer about 30 min away and they said they have to be programmed. Does that sound right? I bought what I'm pretty sure were OEM sensors assuming they wouldnt have to be programmed. Also, is 315hz what they use in the 17 and up? From everything I have found it looks like 315 is what the f250 uses, but when I go on rock auto, it lists all sorts of different options.

I purchased aftermarket wheels with new TPMS and the truck computer did not pick up the new TPMS signal. I went to the Ford dealer where I got the truck and they used some kind of scan tool and a key and horn cycle on the truck and the truck picked up the new TPMS. Took them about four minutes and they didn't charge me anything.
Depending on the brand of TMP sensor you may need a specific tool to program them. If they are Autel brand sensors I believe only Autel tools can program them. Most non-autel tools can program most non-autel sensors but I don't think any work with all. All tools can read the information off all sensors. Sensors do need to be programed for what vehicle they are going to be installed into.
Last time I got new tires I purchased an Autel tool and sensors. It was almost the same cost having the tire place supply and program the sensors.
The sensors that the OP purchased on eBay should work. Those are (likely) not programmable sensors, so they don't have to be programmed. However, the truck does have to go through the relearn cycle so that it knows about them. I don't know why the local tire shop couldn't get it done.
I have the Autel TS601 TPMS tool that I use on all the cars at home. It works well. Note that when you rotate the tires on the truck you do not need to go through a relearn process. Drive the truck for a few miles and it will figure out which sensor is at each position.
Programmable sensors can be made to use the same ID as the OEM sensors. This way, when you swap between the OEM tires/sensors and the aftermarket tires/sensors there is no need to go through the relearn process again. Swap the tires/wheels/sensors and drive like they were rotated and the truck will figure it out.
I missed the link in the original post, those sensors should work with your truck. The listing does not say if the sensors are programmed or not. Any tire place and most repair shops should be able to tell you if there are programmed or not. If programmed then just the relearn will need to be done. If they are unprogrammed they won't work till programmed. They look like the Schrader brand so most tmps tools (other than Autel) should be able to program them.
I believe Ford does sell programmed (for specific vehicles) and non-programmed ones. For a dealership it's easier for them to stock unprogrammed ones and then program them as needed depending on what they are going in. A sensor for a super duty may be the same physical sensor as used in a Escape, but they may be programed differently.
I could be wrong (it happens a lot), but I thought most cars don't recognize an unprogrammed sensor. For universal sensors the programming also acts an activation for the sensor to start working. In most cases programming a sensor is just giving it a identification number/information particular vehicle would be looking for in a tpms re-learn procedure. Many of the universal sensor are able to work on a couple of frequencies. Many times the identification number/information can be copied from an old sensor to a new one so the re-learn does not need to be done.
If the sensor isn't listed as dual frequency then it's either 315 MHz or 433 MHz. The Autel MX-Sensor that I use is dual frequency. I haven't used them in my truck, just the cars. So don't take that as a recommendation for your truck.

Thanks for the replies everyone. So, the sensors arent currently installed. They are at the tire shop still. I was just hoping to have this all figured out before they got installed. The shop just told me their learning tool wasnt picking the sensors up at all while in the bag, so I assume that means They do infact need programming, or they arent the right sensors for the truck. I really do hope that this truck calls for the 315hz. I guess I might just gamble on them being right, and taking it to the dealer to see if they can program them.

I think some of the newer Ford sensors won't transmit unless they sense air pressure. PIA, as you can't tell if they are good without putting them in tire first.
I went through a bunch of sensors on my Fusion, thinking they were all bad (or counterfeit), straight from Ford, E-bay, RockAuto and Amazon. They worked once installed.
I did use a pressure brake bleeder to test one out. Put it in chamber, pump it up to 20 PSI, should work then (easier than mounting in tire just to test).
I've tested sensors (not ones for a Ford) with them just sitting on the ground beside the truck, not even installed in a tire/wheel.
My TPMS tool can "wake up" the sensor. There is a slot in the tool to place the sensor while programming it. So they don't have to be pressurized.
So have I, but recent sensors (in the last year or so), same exact Motorcraft PN's as old one's, won't wake up outside of pressure.
Have you done this with Motorcraft sensors purchased in the past year, year and a half? If so, then my original theory that I was
getting counterfeits, from even Ford dealers, might still hold true. Bottom line is recent sensors would not work until installed. Worth trying
one by OP, if nothing else works.
Could also be the fact they used to be made by Schrader in the UK, but now many times made in Mexico.
But are the Mexican one's counterfeit? I got one straight from my local Ford dealer, so maybe they just
cheapened them up (like everything else)
Well I can finally update this. I got the wheels and tires on a couple of nights ago and had a chance to drive it last night. when I pulled it out of the shop the TPMS showed 63 and 64 which is what the factory ones were. after driving for about 15 minutes, the pressures went to 67 and 68. I have no TPMS alert or anything. Pretty crazy. I didn't do anything other than bolt them up.
So it sounds like the truck automatically recognizes the sensors, like Ram trucks have done for years? Well it's good to know that Ford finally came into the 21st century. I'm about to get new wheels for mine this winter.
