So... we're at the point where we're getting ready to start putting things back together and ordering parts. We're going to use the stock rear / drums and do a front disc conversion. So now we're looking at CPP and the choices of bolt patterns.... but the stock rear axles are 5 x 5.5" and it seems like there is not much available in that bolt pattern for wheels.
Questions:
1. Are we looking in the wrong places for wheels?
2. Can we swap out the axles for a set with a different bolt pattern?
3. Is there an adapter we can use to make the rear axles a different bolt pattern?
I wouldn't recommend trying to do custom axles and brakes for the rear end. If you want a smaller bolt pattern, best to swap in an Explorer 8.8 rear that has the 5 on 4.5 pattern, and get a front disc kit that has that pattern to match.
