Good evening, fellas. I have searched the site, and gone through page-by-page. I haven't found a thread on tires. So, I still have factory rims on my '22 F-350, and have no plans to change. The biggest load I trailer is my tractor, and also tow other trailers. I have "off-road" in pastures, and roadsides, and sometimes find myself in wet S.E. Texas gumbo mud. I put a set of Toyo Open Country A/T 3s on it as soon as I got the truck. They have had their issues. Mainly in regards to balancing. I am running Centramatics and I still have a faint vibration. They are wearing OK, but not for sure I'll get the 50K out of them that they are warranted for. SO, looking at replacements, and I came across the Cooper Discoverer Rugged Treks. Similar treadwear warranty, similar looking tread. I also think that the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts would be very good tires. Now, YOU guys. What tires are you running, and if you've ran these two, what are your thoughts! .
Thanks!
I've looked at both of those tires but I've always come back to the Nitto Ridge Grappler. I hate it because they're so over done but, they truly are a great tire, hard to beat. Now I don't know about load rating, etc for towing or a dually. But I've had them on three trucks now, and an Armada. If you've narrowed it down between the Mickey T and the Cooper, just for aesthetics, I'd choose the Mickey's - they look great in person.

my Ridge Grapplers we’re far from great. After some mileage on them they lost their traction in just rain. And they started to him a little.
I’ve had better luck with Falkens and even liked my Kumho AT52s better. And if you do much winter driving the Ridge Grapplers aren’t the best in snow either once they lose any tread depth. No siping and the compound got hard too quick IMO.
Part of my just thinks people like them because they look cool.
I really liked the factory Wranglers that were on my 19, and was disappointed to see Ford move to the Bridgestones for the 23s. I'll have to give them a hard look when it's time to replace the OE tires.
I've run Cooper AT3's on all my trucks for many years... LOVE those tires. I don't know if they are open enough to be good in mud, but they are an excellent all-weather tire, and... more importantly... excellent TEXAS weather tire.
They have always worn very even, are no more noisy than any open lug tread, work exceptionally well in the rain. I've never had an issue with tire balance, and that is across about 22 sets of tires on 7 different trucks.
The '23 came with horrible Bridgestone Duelers... those will be coming off in December... for another set of AT3's.
I think the RG is designed to be a quiet mud terrain ‘look’ tire. Only issues I had with them is they felt a little squishy when towing heavy but they were a couple sizes up 295/65/20, and they had to be balanced and rotated every 7-9k miles (I dont have the time for that). I have started running the Yokohama G015 because its dead quiet and works ok off road, decent wear and hope to get 2 oil changes per rotation.
If you notice excessive rotation and balance needs try a good steering stabilizer and new quality shocks, it helps a noticeable amount.
He is asking about those others in the OP and I always see that Mickey Thompson come in super heavy and have passed it over.
Cooper AT3 always gets good reviews too. I have a set on an old square body chevy and they are so quiet i can hear every worn out part. Mild off roading on my ranch, definitely no mudding.
I've got the MT Baja AT's on my truck. I put them on a year ago August. and they now have about 35,000 miles on them. I'm pretty sure I'll hit 50,000. They have been great tires. Three Peak winter rated. So they will be a better snow tire than a mud tire.
Mickey Thompson is owned by Cooper Tire and they are manufactures in the tire plant in Arkansas. So I would not be surprised if they are very similar to the Cooper Rugged Treks.
I bought mine last year at great sales price. And if I could find them on sale again. I'd definitely buy them again.
I had the Ridge Grapplers on my 2018 -- they defiantly got louder as I put miles on them. And, they didn't seem to wear very well for me. I've got the Mickey's on this truck. So far (less than 10k miles) they've been great. I haven't pulled our buggy/trailer with them yet but my brother has them on his Chevy and has pulled his Jeep/trailer a few times with no problems.
