Information verification

Hello. I was in the market for a truck, and after looking at all of the generations of fords, I liked the bullnose era. So, I got an 84’ f250. I noticed the right rear brake drum was not getting warm. Turns out that it has a leaky axle shaft seal. From the door plate, I have a #23 axle. So, I’m looking to verify the following information.

open differential
80w-90 oil friction modifier not needed

Also, what is the part number of the axle seal? I typically use autozone, but I cannot verify the correct seal on their app.

Also, I’m seeing that there are light and heavy duty versions. Is this the light duty version?

Here’s the door tag.

Thank you

I don't have easy access to the code chart but I am sure someone will ask dose the rear axle center stick out with a lot of bolts in the center or kind of flush like a rear wheel drive car?
Sticking out with bolts I believe would be heavy duty.

If you look at Autozon's site for your truck, they want to know if you have a full float axle or a semi-float axle. Take a picture of the rear axle without a hubcap on it and post it. I am thinking you have a light duty with a GVWR of 7800lbs, but need a picture to be positive.

I have a semi-float axle. I stopped by a couple places and ordered some seals that should work. Looking forward to getting things sealed back up so they stop leaking on the brake shoes. Then, I’ll be able to track down the other 45 oil leaks. 👍🏼👍🏼😂

Ok, if you have a semi-float axle you do have a regular f250, not a f250HD.
