I currently own a 2019 6.2. F250 that just recently threw a P0496 code. Has anyone has this before or know how to fix this? Any help or advice Is greatly appreciate, thank you.
I have replaced purge valve on intake manifold (tested good). Gas cap (appeared bad). Vent canister solenoid (appeared bad including o-rings). All ford parts. Cleared code after each. Always comes back. Looking at forscan pids and vehicle behavior, it’s throwing the error during the self test in addition to during commanded purge events. Ford has a TSB for erroneous MILs but there is no fix. It’s linked in my thread. I am beyond frustrated. I did occasionally get a tank pressure code also. The only thing I can think of now is the $350 tank pressure sensor/hose but I’m not reliability getting that code.
Do you like to overfill your gas tank, like a few more squeezes after the pump shuts off? Did you check all the associated lines for kinks or blockages? Probably not the valves since you replaced them and still have the issue. You said you had a tank pressure code so something is likely blocked.
I don’t ever overfill. Never past first click. All of the lines I can see don’t appear kinked or damaged. I plan on checking each line in detail this weekend. Smoke test maybe next logical step. The pressure code hasnt come back in two weeks.
Ford integrates the sensor in this line. The tank pressure sensor was bad. Note that this was the “B” part number. I assume the “A” is for a short bed.
Of course. Yeah it was really frustrating because ford doesn’t state that anywhere. It’s just “tube assembly.” Zero videos on it. And basically every seller online doesn’t state it’s included.

Chances are the 'B' in the part number is just a revision, it's likely a completely different part for the short box trucks. They usually change from 'A' to 'B' and so on when they make a change, whether it be a supplier change, component change, what have you. May have been an issue with the original sensor and the 'B' revision is an updated sensor.
Fair point. I just wanted to make sure someone doesn’t just order it without checking vin first. Hopefully it was revised. Seems like not an uncommon failure.
